COURSE OUTLINE MI English II April 2018 Instructor: Chris Elvin ( chriselvin@gmail.com ) Course Description The goal of this course is to improve your English listening comprehension, critical thinking, and writing proficiency. Course Assessment 40% In-class listening exercises 30% Homework portfolio 10% Student prepared listening activity 20% Final listening test 10% Final vocabulary test In-class listening exercises - 40 points: Every week you will have a listening and writing activity which must be completed by the end of the lesson. You will be asked to watch and listen to a short talk, make notes, and then write a summary and opinion of the speech and answer any additional questions. The total score for all of these tasks will be 40 points. Homework portfolio - 30 points : You are required to keep a record of listening activities that you do outside of class. These activities should take between 10 and 15 hours of your time per trimester.
